Pete Sans designer of Tree by Vibia
Pete Sans is a charismatic and creative designer who prefers to describe himself as a furniture draughtsman or sculptor, and his attitude of an artist free from the pressures of industry has enabled him to make his very personal mark on the design scene and win major national and international awards.
After having dedicating himself to painting for a time, in 1971 he set up a graphic design studio and opened the Nikon gallery and school. In 1979 he came into contact with Snark Design. Out of this relationship “Lamparaprima”, was born the first minimalist lamp in Spain and winner of several awards in Paris, Brussels and Miami. Since then he has concentrated his work on industrial design (he prefers to call it ´industrial sculpture´), producing a large number of pieces, all of them steeped in a highly personal style, full of avant-garde originality.
In March 1994, he set up his own production company (PeteSans Sistemes Integrals, S.L.). His first product was the ´Sistema Aula´ range of office desks. His works since then fall into the Catalan architectural tradition of sobriety, freely reinterpreted in a subtle, ingenious way by a designer who states, “I don’t work for industry; it’s industry that works for me.”
